METALLICA Teasing "Another Frontier" Announcement Tomorrow

Metallica are wrapping up promotion for their new movie, Metallica Through The Never (which made another $600k at the box office this week) and now Lars is teasing the band's next big announcement, which might come tomorrow.

Lars was quoted in a recent interview with  San Francisco radio station 107.7 The Bone (unrelated: how many rock stations are there out there called "The Bone"?) saying the following:

“There’s a very interesting thing coming our way in December… There’s another frontier heading in Metallica’s direction in December. Which, if anybody [at the band's management] even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we’re very excited about.”

Well, it can't be a tour, because who the hell tours in December?! Plus, the band seems to be more about playing large destination shows nowadays over a full-fledged tour.

The band already has released a movie, a video game, a board game, a pinball game, sneakers and even neck ties so what the hell is left? In a follow up interview with  The Quietus, Lars elaborated:

Lulu Part 2 – just to piss everybody off! [laughs] I believe that there’s an announcement on October 8. But don’t hold me to that, I’ve been a little caught up in [the film]. It’s not anything of that magnitude… There may be a few of you that would be disappointed, it’s not anything quite at that level. I found myself telling one of your colleagues earlier, there’s an Iron Maiden album called The Final Frontier. So I’ll borrow that from my interview an hour ago, and say, ‘My clue will be the Iron Maiden album, The Final Frontier.’ There you go.”

Checking my calendar, October 8th is tomorrow, so we'll know soon enough. Lars also sayings it's not a Christmas album, so thank Satan for that.

What could it be? Is Metallica going into outer space? Weigh in with your guesses in the comments…
