METALLICA Sues Insurance Company Over No Compensation For 2020 Tour Cancellation

Lloyd's Of London might be in trouble.

metallica 2020

Metallica is currently suing Lloyd's Of London for allegedly failing to compensate the band for financial loses over the cancellation of six South American shows in April 2020. As you all remember, April 2020 was right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and all travel was shut down around the world. So getting to and playing South America was not an option.

According to Metallica's lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court and reported on by NBC Los Angeles, the band's "cancellation, abandonment and non-appearance insurance" was denied. The denial stems from Lloyd's citation of the policy's communicable disease exclusion, which Metallica said is "an unreasonably restrictive interpretation of the policy" and is being called a breach of contract.

Metallica is seeking an unspecified amount from Lloyd's Of London.
