Every now and then I come across a truly unique atmospheric and eloquently moody metal band that stands above the rest. Finnland's own Insomnium is one of my favorite doom influenced melodic death bands out there. You can imagine how stoked I am to report they're now part of the Century Media worldwide family. They announced plans to enter the studio at the end of 2010 to begin recording a follow-up to Across The Dark, their 2009 LP. The band comments:
"Throughout the spring and summer we negotiated with several attractive labels, but in the end it was clear that Century Media would be our home for the years to come. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and genuine love for music made an instant impact on us. We are convinced that this alliance will lead to even greater achievements in the future and also avails us to tour outside Europe more often. And, naturally, it is a great honor for us to stand in the same team with the likes of DARK TRANQUILLITY, ARCH ENEMY, PARADISE LOST, THE HAUNTED, FINNTROLL and TURISAS. A new exciting chapter in the story of INSOMNIUM has begun!"
I'd also like to add this signing means greater merch accessibility for this guy! Just last year I attempted to purchase an Insomnium hoodie that came out to $110 (after over seas shipping and currency conversion) from the band's web store. Ouch!
