Greta Van Fleet, the classic rock band that isn't quite a classic rock band due to their only existing since 2012, has been very divisive in the rock and metal community. Some felt their 2018 debut Anthem Of The Peaceful Army was a direct ripoff of bands like Led Zeppelin, while others thought they were bringing rock back to the forefront.
Now in an interview with NME by way of Consequence Of Sound, guitarist Jake Kiszka and bassist Sam Kiszka say the new album they're working on due out this year will be something totally different. Which means of course slews of new opinions followed by Greta Van Fleet continuing to be successful anyway.
“We’re working on something quite different,” said guitarist Jake Kiszka. “It’s interesting, because we never know exactly what an album is going to look like — it can only be so premeditated. But as it sort of unfolds now, it’s an example of where we are musically right now. It’s definitely much different than Anthem of the Peaceful Army would have been.”
Bassist Sam Kiszka added, “I think it’s really the next step in the evolution of what we want to do… I think as far as the intent goes, it’s just incorporating more sounds, more tones, more styles of music, perhaps, and taking a step in the cinematic direction.”
