Graphic Artist Accuses DISNEY Of Ripping Off Their Work For Dutch Hardcore Band

Specifically from a piece done for the band Born From Pain.

Disney

Estonian graphic artist Midi has taken to Twitter to accuse Disney of ripping them off for a Werewolf By Night promotional poster. The original design by Midi was used for the Dutch hardcore band Born From Pain, and the Disney poster certainly has some similarities. Midi originally called Disney out with the below tweet, showing that the Werewolf By Night poster was potentially traced and edited:

A few other users jumped in as well, doing some side-by-side comparisons between the Werewolf By Night posted and the Born From Pain piece. If you weren't originally convinced that the two pieces were very closely related, some of the below images might convince you otherwise. There are a lot of details that are very similar to one another, and in some cases the side-by-side comparisons even line up perfectly (look at the nose for instance).

As for any legal actions, Midi said in a separate tweet they're already underway. "Didn't expect this to blow up and thought I'd be ridiculed for this, but I'm so overwhelmed with the support I've received from this community! From my side, i already took some legal steps towards this case. Once again, thank you for your tremendous support."

And look – we really hope this wasn't a case of plagiarism where a major corporation jacks a small artist's work and tries to profit off it, as has happened countless times over the years. Because that's a massively shitty move of the highest order… but boy, these two pieces sure look similar.
