Update: The first comment on our Instagram post is Holt, who says he's definitely not part of the band.
Original story: Kerry King's new self-titled band is set to play their first ever show at Welcome To Rockville 2024 and of course everyone wants to know who's in the band. So far we know former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph is definitely among its lineup, while the longtime rumor has been that guitarist Gary Holt (Exodus, ex-Slayer) and Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo are in there as well.
Now according to a fan who attended an Exodus meet-and-greet on November 17 (via Blabbermouth), Holt said he's not part of King's band. When asked, Holt reportedly said "I'm not involved. I haven't heard anything written. I haven't heard anything recorded. I'm not part of it. I'm too busy." Whether or not this is true, or if it's just a good ol' bait-and-switch, remains to be seen.
As for what we can expect from King's new project, as well know is that King said in a 2022 interview: "You know me, so you know what it's going to sound like. I played this new song for a buddy, and I said to him, 'If there's anything I've written in the last few years that sounds like Slayer, it's this.' And he said, 'That sounds like you could have pulled it off of any Slayer record.' I actually made that riff up backstage at a Slayer show. We were walking to the stage and I got my phone out and recorded it so I wouldn't forget it."
