The band Islander are not having a very fun summer. After their first performance on the final Warped Tour, the band got kicked off the bill. At the July 1st show, frontman Mikey Carvajal barreled into the drum set at the end of the band's performance. The problem is the drum set was not theirs, but part of a shared backline that many bands had to use and it resulted in delays and problems for the bands that followed.
There was no warning, there was no three strike policy – Islander were abruptly kicked off of Warped Tour. The band posted a video message explaining the situation and apologizing.
This is where the story gets fun.
Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, who considers himself a fan of the band, spoke up on the band's behalf regarding their excommunication from the traveling festival, and he didn't have nice words for Warped:
Band gets kicked off Alt/punk/hard core tour for being too wild? Not even a warning? That's what Vans Warped Tour has been all about for decades! L A M E https://t.co/Uta0qfCY4s

Being ever the social-media-maven, Warped founder Kevin Lyman chimed in as well, with a pretty solid clap-back:
I would ask Brian "Head" Welch, if an opening act trashed Korn's gear on stage, how long they would be kept on the tour? Just wondering. https://t.co/2BcJtI7x1v

Oh man, it's on now, right? Ehh, not quite. Welch actually agreed with Lyman:
No offense, wasn’t blaming you… didn’t even know if Warped kicked em off, or the stage sponsor.
I see your point, but still respectfully disagree w/outcome.@VansWarpedTour bands are chaotic, there should have been back up gear ??LOL
Thanks for all the years!

Ultimately, it does seem a little silly to get kicked off for one minor mess-up, but it's Lyman's tour and he makes the rules.
