MÖTLEY CRÜE Not Happy There's An Unauthorized Play About Them Happening Soon

"Mötley Crüe has no connection or affiliation with this play whatsoever."

Actor and director David Lucarelli will debut his new play The Crüe: Underneath the Dirt Lies the Truth at the Hollywood Fringe Festival on June 4. Turns out that Mötley Crüe is not at all stoked about this, considering the play is completely unauthorized.

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx posted a statement to Instagram saying the play is unauthorized, that Lucarelli does not have the rights to the band's logo or Sixx's imagine, and that the band was never approached about it.

"Fans of Mötley Crüe have asked about a new play by David Zucarelli's [sic] called The Crüe: Underneath The Dirt Lies The Truth. I was disappointed to see an advertisement using my image and our band's trademark The Crüe to promote this play.

"The advertising is misleading because it suggests that I and the other members of the band are somehow involved with the play. We have never been approached about this play. And Mötley Crüe has no connection or affiliation with this play whatsoever."

The Crüe: Underneath the Dirt Lies the Truth is described as a "darkly humorous drama" starring Ryan Ruffing as Sixx and Phillip-Charlie Daniell as Mötley Crüe manager Doc McGhee. So we'll see if this actually gets premiered on June 4 or if the band squashed the whole thing.

Mötley Crüe is slated to begin their stadium tour with Def LeppardPoison, and Joan Jett And The Blackhearts next month.
