Dragonforce are going to be recording their next record starting in May with good ol' Jens Bogren (who has been behind the board for Opeth, The Devil Townsend Project, Amon Amarth, Katatonia, Soilwork and Symphony X). Killer?
According to a Facebook post by the band-
UK Metal heroes Dragonforce have completed writing the follow up to last year’s The Power Within album, which was their first with vocalist Marc Hudson. Since his live debut with the band in July of 2011, Marc has gone on to front over 100 shows with the band in 32 countries across the globe, including arenas with Iron Maiden as well as a mammoth headlining world tour to support the album.
Aside from the band referring to themselves as "metal heros," I think I sort of care about this record. I feel like it's not so much that people dislike Dragonforce as it is all the studio magic they used to utilize in order to get their sound. Check out some of their older live videos and you'll see what I mean. Couple that with the fact that all their music is pretty similar and voila! Got you a big fat recipe for not giving a crap. Regardless of my overall boredom with the band, they do seem to be on the uptrend of writing relevant things, so at the very least the new album will be worth a check out. I'm hopeful Bogren will whip them into song writing machines… or less machine-like songwriters. One of those two.
