We're pumped to premiere the new single from the Greek groove metal quartet Calyces. The track, "Those Flames are Dancing Wild" offers glimpses of the mid-aughts post-hardcore scene, reminding me of bands like Mastodon, Isis, Red Sparrows and Pelican, but Calyces takes the genre and makes it all it's own.
A previous track, featuring a sax solo from Shining's Jørgen Munkeby can be heard at Decibel. Jorgen is a big fan of the band, writing their new album is "a broad spanning beast of massive, yet digestible, melodic strains, understated complexity, pulsating dynamics and lots of neat-o baritone vocalizing".
