If you had tickets to see Voivod live in the next month, it's time to find some new plans. The band are forced to cancel a string of dates due to frontman Denis ‘Snake’ Belanger recovering from diverticulitis.
Since I'm no doctor, Wikipedia tells me that that diverticulitis "is a common digestive disease particularly found in the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from diverticulosis, which involves the formation of pouches (diverticula) on the outside of the colon." That's not fun at all.
The band posted the following message announcing the cancellation:
show cancellations!!!
Voivod has had to postpone any shows for the immediate future as Snake needs 4-6 weeks rest due to a procedure for diverticulitis, a common digestive disease.
This affects the MS Benefit in Ottawa and the SXSW shows, this should not affect the Santiago, Chile MetalFest appearance in April
More tour news to be announced shortly.
While this is certainly a bummer for Voivod fans wanting to see the band live next month, we can only hope for a speedy recovery.
