TORCHE Is Breaking Up After Current Tour

Thanks for the thunder, Torche.

Torche founding vocalist and guitarist Steve Brooks recently announced the band's coming tour with Meshuggah would be his last. This left fans questioning if Torche would carry on after Brooks' departure, but it turns out the answer has out there the whole time – Torche is done.

In an Instagram post from a few weeks ago, one fan asked Brooks to clarify if he was done with the band or if Torche was done overall. Brooks responded "We’re done. Only plan on reissuing out of print records some day. Moving on." In another comment unearthed by The PRP, Brooks offered a little insight into why Torche is calling it quits.

"I had adventures in this band I wouldn't have experienced otherwise and made many friends through touring. At this point, I live in rural Oregon Coast and everyone else is in Miami. It's a mission travelling across country to be crammed in a van for a month, worrying about money to cover all these expenses, possible theft, health/safety and depending on others to take care of our responsibilities at home is too much. The only enjoyable moments for me is onstage (30-80 minutes.) Come see us, if you can."

Does this suck? Absolutely, but at least we got five records and a handful of smaller releases from Torche over the past almost-two decades that we can all enjoy endlessly. Plus there's a new song out now and seemingly another one coming soon! In the meantime, go catch Torche on their final tour.
