Some tragic news to report. Former Motörhead drummer Phil Taylor, aka Philthy Animal (pictured center in the above photo) has passed away at the age of 61.
No cause of death was not revealed at press time, but Blabbermouth reports he had a long battle with an undisclosed ailment.
Former Motörhead guitarist Eddie Clark who played with Taylor from 1976 to 1984 shared this remembrance:
“My dear friend and brother passed away last night. He had been ill for sometime but that does not make it any easier when the time finally comes.
“I have known Phil since he was 21 and he was one hell of a character. Fortunately, we made some fantastic music together and I have many many fond memories of our time together.
“Rest in peace, Phil!”
Taylor was most famous for playing on Motorhead's breakthrough album, Ace of Spades. Let's all crank the track extra loud today in his honor.
