FAIR TO MIDLAND Bassist Quits; Europe Tour Plans Canceled

Over the weekend, I learned some pretty sad news: Jon Dicken is leaving Fair to Midland. The band announced the departure last Monday during their gig with Filter in Denton, Texas, but I didn't get to go, and, basically, had no idea until Facebook told me, thanks to that new sidebar. Subsequently, the band has also canceled its plans to tour Europe and the UK next month with Evanescence. From the Fair to Midland Facebook:

“After 7 amazing years of playing with Fair To Midland, our bassist Jon Dicken has decided it was time for him to move on. We appreciate his hard work and dedication to the band, we love him, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors. Moving forward, we are excited to continue touring and making music.

Unfortunately, however, this has resulted in the cancellation of our European/UK dates in November. We want to send our sincerest apologies to our European friends and fans from across the pond. We will be regrouping in the following weeks and in the meantime we thank you all for your patience and understanding.”

The band's guitarist Cliff Campbell updated fans on upcoming DVD, which, according to Cliff, will still be shot:

Thanks for all of the posts guys. I know Jon appreciates the love. We miss him.

As for the DVD, everything is still according to plan. I actually got a lot of great footage from you guys, and some similar shows that will make for good angles. Its going to be awesome, and I will not let what is going on to stop the progression of Fair To Midland. I also can't wait for the live DVD in Flint, MI on December 17th. Thanks so much for all of your support in making this happen.

I wish we could have made the European tour happen. I was truly disappointed myself. I love you all.

While this might be a huge bummer to some, the show must go on, and inevitably, it will. We wish Jon the best.
