Guitarist Daniel Freyberg had to be pretty close to legendary guitarist Alexi Laiho's closest friends. After Laiho departed from Children of Bodom, Freyberg joined him in his new project, Bodom After Midnight. In his first interview since Laiho's tragic passing, Freyberg opened up about the next release and his thoughts on Alexi's sudden death.

The band were recording the songs for their forthcoming EP shortly before Alexi's death. When asked by Revolver if Alexi looked or acted any different, Freyberg said “He seemed as normal as ever. Yeah, I definitely didn’t see this coming.”

Asked if there was any material that wasn't released on the upcoming EP, unfortunately, Freyberg reveals there are no b-sides. "No, that was 100 percent everything. Nothing was left over."

Bodom After Midnight's EP Paint The Sky With Blood due out April 23. More info here.

It was revealed that Alexi had passed away due to “alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue.” The release of the cause of death, by Alexi's ex-wife and former Sinergy bandmate, Kimberly Goss, led to public condemnation from Alexi's sister and the mother of his child, leading to any ugly public battle of words.
