Well this fucking sucks. Argonauts is undoubtably the next big thing in my eyes. Fuck, it has Dave Witte amongst it's ranks, and it featured the return of original Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Dimitri Minakakis. I saw this band live a few months ago in a shitty (I mean that lovingly) DIY venue and my mind was blown. I couldn't wait to hear music from these guys. Today though, came the bummer news: Minakakis cannot commit to touring, so he's out. Here's what the band posted on their Facebook page:
Argonauts will be moving on without Dimitri. Scheduling is the issue here…Dimitri just could not commit his schedule fully to what the band needed. We're bummed, but it's a reality that came to light. That being said, Chris Alfano (East of the Wall) has stepped up to sing and we will be playing two NJ shows. Details to come
While Chris is certainly a suitable replacement, and I am still incredibly interested in this band, their awesomeness does go down a notch without Minakakis in the fold. That was the main draw for me. Dude has the most powerful vocal chords on the eastern seaboard. Regardless though, Argonauts will definitely be a band to watch for in 2012. Here are their two sole upcoming dates:
01/27 Warren, NJ – Warren American Legion Hall (feat. Tiger Flowers, Torchbearer, etc.)
01/28 Long Branch, NJ – Brighton Bar (feat. Social Decay, Pitch Black Sleep, etc.)
