Another METALLICA Song Is Featured In A Netflix Series

This time it's Apocalyptica's cover of "Nothing Else Matters" in the new series, Wednesday.

Apocalyptica

There's a whole bunch of new Metallica news this week, folks! In case you didn't hear all about it, this week the band dropped their first new single in seven years, "Lux Aeterna," and announced a massive two-year stadium tour that includes Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch, and Ice Nine Kills among many others across the globe. But that's not all that happened in the Metalliverse!

As it so happens, another Metallica song—albeit performed by Apocalyptica—is featured in another Netflix series, as the string quartet's version of "Nothing Else Matters" is featured in the Addams Family inspired Wednesday, from producer Tim Burton and which made its debut last week.

Earlier this year, Metallica's "Master of Puppets" was featured in the season finale of Netflix series Stranger Things, sending the 1986 classic to the top of most viral charts on nearly every DSP. Hannah Davis—the Director of Creative Sync Licensing at QPrime Management, which is also Metallica's longtime management team—recently spoke about the licensing of "Master of Puppets" for use in Stranger Things and the potential long reach of sync licensing in the future .

"Sync has a unique power," Davis said over the summer. "I sometimes think, as a viewer, you might have an emotional connection with a song because it is such an inspiring or emotive piece of music. When that song is paired with a scene where you are also invested in the plotline or the characters, it melds those two feelings together to create an even larger bond. And that, essentially, makes a new piece of art which brings new fans into the fold and energizes established fans too."

Metallica will release their 11th studio LP, 72 Seasons on April 14, 2023 on Blackened Recordings. The dates for their 2023-2024 weekend stand tour can be found below.
