Ghost has been promising darker and heavier material ever since we started talking about their coming fourth album, but now we've got some actual proof. The band's new song "Rats" is exactly as heavy metal as you wanted it to be, with killer guitar solos, a badass drum intro, and riffs that sound like they might've been sitting in Ozzy's basement since the 80s. Seriously, if you've been dying for something like Ghost's debut album Opus Eponymous with a more updated sound, then you're going to absolutely love "Rats."
Ghost premiered their new single "Rats!" on SiriusXM Octane moments ago, and some fans on Reddit's /r/GhostBC already posted radio rips. You can hear it below.
Ghost recently introduced their new frontman Cardinal Copia, which was a bit of a surprise considering every frontman prior has been a direct descendant of Papa Emeritus. Copia has also performed with the band, though it was only an acoustic set in Chicago.
Still no word on the new album, but you can see Ghost play the song live at one of these tour dates.
Update: Ghost have officially announced their new album, Prequelle is coming June 1st. Get more details here.
