Drummer Dave Lombardo (Mr. Bungle, Dead Cross, ex-Slayer) and guitarist Scott Ian (Mr. Bungle, Anthrax) recently announced they were teaming up with composer Fil Eisler to work on the soundtrack for Netflix's upcoming movie Thunder Force. You can now stream the title track from the movie below, which features vocals from both Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) and Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), as well as contributions from cellist Tina Guo.
“One of the great things about scoring movies is that I get to play in a lot of different musical sandboxes and occasionally the opportunity comes up to invite in some special guests," said Eisler of the track.
"Anthrax and Slayer played a huge part in my childhood and I’ve been a fan of both Corey and Lzzy for years, so when the idea of doing an orchestral metal score came up, it was a perfect excuse to go straight to the source. Why fake it when you can work with the real originals! It was honestly one of the most outright fun experiences of my scoring career so far.”
Thunder Force is out April 9 and was written and directed by Ben Falcone (The Boss, Tammy). The movie stars Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Pom Klementieff, Melissa Leo and Tyrel Jackson Williams, and is about "Two childhood best friends reunite as an unlikely crime-fighting superhero duo when one invents a formula that gives ordinary people superpowers."
