After two albums and two splits in 2022, Boris is back in 2023 with a new collaborative record! Boris has teamed up with Uniform for Bright New Disease due out on June 16, and you can check out the single "You Are The Beginning" below. It's a plodding rager loaded with noisy guitar solos, crunchy rhythms, and some seriously moshy bits strewn throughout. Pre-orders are available here.
Boris drummer Atsuo notes that "You Are The Beginning" was the first piece the band worked on during the pandemic. Atsuo notes that "You Are The Beginning" was written specifically as the album's opener, and hopefully a show opener someday too. "At that time, we didn't know when we would be able to resume concerts," said Atsuo, "and our wish became the song directly."
"On tour, we learned more about the depth of their musicality, which we felt was compatible with our own expression," added Atsuo about Uniform. "They are a band that can be described in many ways—punk, metal, industrial—but they truly excel because they are not locked into any style. They are always experimenting and innovating."
"Uniform have been longtime fans and admirers of Boris. Supporting them on tour was a dream come true," added Uniform vocalist and master of electronics Michael Berdan.
