Black Crown Initiate went silent after their new album and ensuing shows surrounding their 2016 record Selves We Cannot Forgive. Then in December 2018, the band broke their silence and announced the departure of guitarist Wes Hauch (Alluvial, Glass Casket) and drummer Jesse Beahler (Nightfire, ex-Jungle Rot), and the addition of guitarist Ethan McKenna and drummer Samuel Santiago (ex-Gorod, ex-Melechesh). In July 2019, Black Crown Initiate announced they'd signed to Century Media Records and would be releasing a new record at some point.
While the band has not yet announced the new record, they are streaming a brand new song called "Years In Frigid Light" and boy is it an excellent return. It's all the melody you've come to know and love from the band, but there's a newfound level of heaviness in there that really fits the band well. I think this one is really going to please people who loved Black Crown Initiate's 2013 EP Song Of The Crippled Bull.
Black Crown Initiate kicks off their European/UK tour today with Rivers Of Nihil, Møl, and Orbit Culture.
