My go-to genre outside of metal has always been the deep, dark sounds of a tortured singer-songwriter. A true stand out to emerge in the last couple years has been none other than London's A.A. Williams, which I recommended on my recent quarantine playlist.
Her self-titled EP released in early 2019 left me speechless, only to be outdone by her first performance at last year's Roadburn Festival that left me mesmerized and wanting more. It's the kind of artistry that will take you away to a far away room locked in your head, and throw away the key. If you haven't checked it out, I highly suggest you fix that immediately and visit her Bandcamp page to buy the EP.
Recently, A.A. Williams began a 'Songs From Isolation' series on her YouTube page, and received a request to cover Nine Inch Nails. I'm sure glad someone asked, because the results are pure heart wrenching gold. Check out the amazing cover below!
