We've had a lot of fun at Dave Mustaine's expense. To be fair, he makes it real easy for us. We've created a whole sub-section of the site dedicated to his fantastic quotes.
The problem with Dave, in my eyes, is that he is not-at-all self-aware. Take for example what he said in a recent interview with VH1:
During the interview, Dave is asked "Why do you think metal continually doesn’t get the respect it deserves?" so naturally he responds with:
“You’ve got to look at a lot the participants in it. To their own demise, a lot of heavy metal performers act stupid. You know, ‘Hey bro, duh.’ It doesn’t further our cause any. If you want to be treated intelligently, then act intelligent.”
Look in the mirror, much lately? MetalSucks did a fantastic job pulling some of Mustaine's more asinine quotes to show how much of a fool Mustaine makes himself out to be.
For example, his stance on gay marriage:
“Well, since I’m not gay, the answer to that would be no.”
On evolution:
"Science is really interesting. I mean, I don't believe in evolution, I believe in creation, so science only goes so far with me, but I really dig looking at that whole way that's set up with the tubing and the piping and the reactors and all the stuff that goes along with it."
On seceding:
“When you go home tonight, I want you to do me a favor, I want you to look up online the word ‘secede,’ because right now, right now, there are 47 states in the United States of America that wanna secede from the United States of America. And what ‘secede’ actually means is that they don’t wanna have any part of this bullshit anymore. Whether you are a Democract or a Republican or a Libertarian or an Independent, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that we’re Americans and we are not being treated right.
On women in Africa:
There's so many houses without a dad that it's just terrible. I mean, you know how they used to say there should be a license to have a baby? Well, as far-fetched as that sounds, I really think that, if the parents aren't going to stick together, they shouldn't make that kind of commitment to life. I watch some of these shows from over in Africa, and you've got starving women with six kids. Well, how about, you know, put a plug in it?
