The bromace between your mother's favorite saxophonist, Kenny G, and your conservative father's favorite metal guitarist Dave Mustaine continues. Previously, the Megadeth guitarist said he considers Kenny a friend and he even made light of the friendship in a sketch for Funny or Die promoting his new album. Now, Kenny is returning the favor by giving Dave's band a shout-out.
As part of CoolHunting.com's #PrivateJam, I guess they ask musicians to pick a song you wouldn't expect from them and Kenny picked "Holy Wars," which may be my favorite Megadeth song commenting:
For this week's #PrivateJam, Kenny G gave us his own guilty pleasure hit. Our woodwind spirit animal explained that after taking his son to one of their shows years ago, he's still hair-over-heels for Megadeth's "Holy Wars." The band's #1 hit featured on their 1990 Rust in Peace album is the heart and soul of progressive thrash metal. And no surprise, Kenny's always been a fan of diehard musicianship and loves that something so heavy can be equally as melodic. "Plus," he says, "the ability to head-bang to their music gives me the chance to put this hair to good use."
Now play the song and imagine standing next to Kenny G. at a Megadeth song with him headbanging and you're all like "Damn dude, stop getting your curly locks in my way, I'm trying to watch the show!"
