CYNIC's Paul Masvidal Collaborates With JIM CARREY On His New Children's Book

This might explain why it's taking so long to hear some new Cynic tunes. Frontman Paul Masvidal spent a few months collaborating with actor Jim Carrey (he of Dumb & Dumber fame) on Carrey's new children's book "How Roland Rolls."

Masvidal, whose company Stillmotion Music works on scores for movies and TV shows (most famously scoring Third Rock From The Sun in the 90s) was an executive producer on the EP accompanying Carrey's new childrens book, which has songs performed by Jim and his daughter, Jane. Here is a video of their working process:

Carrey's intentions with the book are very noble with him being quoted as saying:

"I wrote 'How Roland Rolls' specifically as a way for parents and grandparents to engage with the children in quality together-time. Not only will the message of the story help them feel connected, worthwhile, and a part of something vast and grand … the very act of adults spending time simply to be with them, and only with them, will pay off in an experience of fulfillment that's truly beyond compare."

More info on the book and EP can be found on its official website.

I wonder if Paul played any Cynic for Carrey. Carrey is rumored to be a metal fan, having had Cannibal Corpse in Ace Ventura and all, although there are rumors to the contrary.
