Former WEEDEATER Drummer Arrested For Allegedly Spiking Wife's Drink With Meth

Former Weedeater drummer Keith Kirkum's mugshot

Founding Weedeater drummer Keith Kirkum, whose real name is apparently Michael Joseph Kirkum, was arrested in North Carolina for allegedly spiking his soon-to-be ex-wife's drink with methamphetamine.

According to multiple news outlets, Kirkum has been arrested on $100,000 bond for charges including secret assault, assault on a female, resisting arrest, and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse.

New Hanover County Sheriff's Office's Lt. Jerry Brewer said that Kirkum’s wife had recently told the former Weedeater drummer that she hired a lawyer and was seeking a divorce.

"At some point that night, the woman had a drink of rum and recalled that it had an odd, bitter taste," the report states. "After not sleeping for a day and a half, [Kirkum's wife] went to the emergency room where she tested positive for methamphetamine."

Deputies were dispatched to Kirkum's residence last Saturday for routine questioning when the drummer allegedly answered the door armed with a gun.

Brewer states he eventually dropped the weapon and fled on foot, where Kirkum was eventually apprehended by authorities after a "brief pursuit."

Kirkum joined Weedeater in 1998 and recorded four albums with the sludge band before leaving in 2003.

The rum has been sent off for testing, according to Brewer, and additional charges may be filed depending on results.
