Phil Rudd is a lucky man.
Rudd plead guilty to the charges of drug possession and trying to kill his assistant late last year. He tried to offer $200k to get his assistant taken out, fueled by methamphetamine addiction. In a recent interview, it was discovered that his motivation was a drug-fuel rage over disappointing album sales.
Today, Rudd was sentenced at Tauranga District Court in New Zealand. Ultimately, the judge ruled that Rudd is a "relatively fragile man" and said Rudd felt he was bound to lead the rock star life in public. Like a mother chastising their son, the judge also told Rudd “You are now 61 years old, Mr Rudd – you are not 21.” Rudd was sentenced to eight months of home detention. He will not be doing any jail time.
Like I said, Rudd is a lucky man.
No word on if AC/DC will consider taking him back after his house arrest concludes.
