Now that they're throwing it back to 1999.

Slipknot is out on the road for a good chunk of 2024 celebrating their 1999 self-titled debut album. Slipknot recently recruited former Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande and, given their two performances of the year so far, are clearly digging into their old material live once again. In that spirit, here are eight picks for the old-school Slipknot songs the band should bust out live again.

"Some Feel" from Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. (1996)

Played once in 1996. I know, this isn't representative of modern Slipknot at all, but an overhauled "Some Feel" in all its nü-groove glory could be cool as a live addition… and probably a re-recording wouldn't hurt, just to show fans what it was. This is about as "deep cuts" as this list gets, and will probably never happen.

"Interloper" from 1998 Demo (1998)

Played eight times total, last played in 1998. "Interloper" would make sense given Slipknot's celebration of their 1999 self-titled shows, and would totally get the crowd moving. It was also included on some Slipknot reissues, so it's not like it's completely unknown.

"No Life" from Slipknot (1999)

Played 61 times total, last played in 2000. The crowd singing along with the "No kind of life, this is no kind of life" chorus would be outright insane.

"Only One" from Slipknot (1999)

Played 71 times total, last played in 2012. "Only One" could use a slight rework to keep the energy up live, but that "only one of us walks away" bit would be perfect for the masses to scream along to.

"My Plague" from Iowa (2001)

Played 74 times total, last played in 2016. Why hasn't Slipknot played "My Plague" more? This song kills, it had a music video, and it was even on soundtrack to the film Resident Evil.

"I Am Hated" from Iowa (2001)

Played 19 times total, last played (and only played) in 2016. A bit of a slow-burner that might be hard to fit into the setlist, but "I Am Hated" is heavy.

"Skin Ticket" from Iowa (2001)

Played 14 times total, last played in 2016. This one is sludge city and would incite some serious headbnaging.

"Opium Of The People" from Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses (2004)

Played 18 times total, last played in 2015. Much like a handful of Iowa tracks, it's baffling that this one hasn't made it to the stage more. Those shreddy guitar lines are a perfect call to the crowd to get moving.

"All Hope Is Gone" from All Hope Is Gone (2008)

Played once in 2008. Dear Slipknot, you have Eloy Casagrande on drums now. This song is absolutely in your wheelhouse, and is a rager for the ages. That chorus!
