Health will release their new album DISCO4 :: PART II on April 8. The album features collaborations with such great metal acts as Lamb Of God and Nine Inch Nails, which got us wondering what the hell does Health listen to? So we sat down with John Famiglietti of Health for a quick discussion on a few of his favorite modern metal artists.

Pupil Slicer

I didn’t know they still made these kinda bands anymore! Completely unhinged UK avant-dog-core music taking me back to the naughty aughties but also looking towards the future while sounding 100x better than most things you might be reminiscing about based on that description. According to the Encyclopaedia Metallum, this is NOT metal.

Hath

Hell hath no, um… whatever mix of extreme metal genres is at play here. Death Metal and DLC. This New Jersey crew hath wrought something especial.

Frozen Soul

Cold school death metal. Frozen Bolt Thrower. I'm serious, it’s all ice themed.

Creeping Death

USDA Prime Death Metal served Texas style (Salt n' Pepper, Post Oak). Sick record covers, too (white bread, pickled onions).

Antichrist Siege Machine

Sounds just like the band name, some kinda giant infernal arcane machine throwing boiling oil, dead bodies, what have you, over your city wall.

200 Stab Wounds

Excellent death metal band from Cleveland. Gory chromatic riffs with a low toned bestial wail. Lives up to the band name.
