Vinterland
Sometimes it’s best to quit while you’re ahead. Other times, it’s sad when such a great album like Welcome my Last Chapter is the only one you put out. However, while I’m sure there would never be an ill-advised foray into smooth jazz, we can be happy in the knowledge we have this record to enjoy. Vinterland strikes me as the most “black metal” of all these bands, sharing more of a In the Nightside Eclipse-vibe than the others. There’s more speed here, along with a slightly rawer production and vocals that resemble more of a shriek than a howl. Apparently the band has recently returned to playing live shows, so we'll see if another studio effort is in store as well.
