Warbeast vocalist Bruce Corbitt was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in April 2017 and gracefully bowed out of the band to focus on battling the malignancy. In January 2018, Corbitt said his treatments were unsuccessful and things didn't look so great. At the time, Corbitt said in a series of posts that he'd be lucky to "make it another year," and "I won’t give up, but I've accepted there’s no chance."
Then in February of this year, Cobitt began undergoing immunotherapy in a clinical trial for the malignancy. Now in a new update from Corbitt, he says the immunotherapy has been going beyond just well. Corbitt says his blood cells and platelets have been going back up to normal, and that in his own words, "we're beating this cancer."
"I can't believe it, I'm in shock, I just got some of the best news. I mean, after all these chemo sessions and bloodwork, I've never had such improvement in just two weeks on my own… my body doing this on its own with no help. All my white blood cells, platelets, everything has all shot up back to normal. We can't believe it, we're in shock. They also got me approved to get the shot to make sure they stay up. So I'm good to go now. Things are back to normal, my body restored itself, I've got the shot to help me fight, to keep it up there, and there's no stopping me now. We know something's going on; we're beating this cancer, because it wouldn't go up that fast on its own without the shots. It's a miracle, and I'm going to take it just as that."
All I can really say is "fuck yeah" at this point. This is phenomenal news for Corbitt and his friends and family, and I wish him all the best in his continuing recovery.
