Apparently if you spray paint the Slayer band name along with a pentagram on a building, you've committed a hate crime… or so one New York resident thought.
The picture you're seeing above is one taken by Commack, NY, Patch editor Amanda Lindner after an August 13 graffiti report, who also wrote this funny (to metal fans) story:
"Wicks Park, which is home to the Commack South Little League, was vandalized Tuesday night, police said.
One of the buildings on the town park property was marked with black graffiti.
Police were initially investigating the vandalism as a hate crime after a resident called in the incident, but officials then realized the markings, which included a pentagram, were symbols from the band, Slayer."
I'm intrigued to know what police officer came up to the graffiti and recognized it as a metal band, not a bunch of hateful graffiti, because that officer very clearly has solid musical taste. Not that pentagrams are "hateful" or anything, since they're just another religious symbol, but we won't get into that! Thanks, Amanda!
