SERJ TANKIAN Cites Albums from METALLICA, SLAYER That Changed His Life

Today is not a day where we get another System Of A Down-related teaser, but we do get to learn a little bit about frontman Serj Tankian's taste in metal! In an interview with Metal Hammer, Tankian says the album he's most likely to break the speed limit to is Metallica's …And Justice For All, which struck me as an odd choice as far as Metallica albums go. Maybe big progressive thrash voyages get Tankian's blood pumping? Dude would love Vektor!

“Metallica’s song arrangements are so unique. They write really intense, complex songs, that are so popular. They’ve sold millions, and you’re like, ‘These are really complex songs!’”

He also says Slayer's 1986 landmark album Reign In Blood would be his go to album if a kid asked him what metal is, because "the historical significance of Slayer as a band is very interesting. They opened up a lot for death and black metal."

From there, the list gets pretty non-metal, though interesting! Tankian touches on Earth, Wind & Fire album artwork, the soundtracks of Ennico Morricone, some Depeche Mode, and more!
