Metallica has been doing a ton of one-off shows recently around the world, and hasn't done a proper U.S. tour in around seven years. It looks like that streak will be coming to an end this year, as a stadium tour trek consisting of Metallica, Volbeat, and Avenged Sevenfold is rumored.
According to Blabbermouth, the originators of the rumor, Kirk Hammett recently told Billboard that the band would like to do a U.S. tour.
"We're very excited about it because it's been a long, long time since we've done a proper American tour. I mean, we've done European tours, Asian tours, South American tours, but we have not done a proper American tour as of late. So we're very, very excited about it, and we're very excited to be able to do it bringing new material to all our fans out there."
The tour is expected to be announced soon, and we've been told that this rumor most likely the case.
Metallica's next big performance is this Sunday at the Grammys and they just confirmed Lady Gaga will be joining them. Expect the tour to be announced right before then, so that all the free press they'd get could be used to promote their tour.
