As the promotional cycle for the upcoming AC/DC album Rock or Bust begins to stretch its proverbial limbs, we're immediately noticing something wrong with the first promotional photo the band has released to the public. Drummer Phil Rudd isn't in it!
It has been floating around the Internet for about a week or so that Rudd sat out the video shoot for the band's two upcoming singles "Play Ball" and "Rock or Bust," but that was due to "a family emergency" on Rudd's end. Life gets in the way as we all know, so there wasn't much to go on by way of us reporting the piece. Now there are two new aspects to the ongoing story of Rudd's absence.
According to Blabbermouth, the family emergency story allegedly given by Rudd was never confirmed by any official source close to Rudd or the band. Secondly, now Rudd isn't in the promotional picture… so what gives? Has Rudd been fired from the band? It seems odd that would be given the case considering he's been the drummer for the group since 1974.
Does this mean two members of the legacy lineup are no longer in the band? Earlier in the year, it was revealed that primary songwriter and guitarist Malcolm Young would not be returning to the band since he has suffered a stroke has been checked into a nursing home to deal with his dementia.
While we keep an eye out for some answers, enjoy the first single off the record Rock or Bust due out December 12!
