No Chill NICKELBACK Made Canadian Police Take Down Their Goofy Drunk Driving Arrest Threat

Now the cops won't make you listen to Nickelback after you're arrested… probably.

Now the cops won't make you listen to Nickelback after you're arrested... probably.

The (Canadian0 Kensington Police Service had a little fun with their threats of arrest when it came to drunk driving this week. In addition to being jailed, the cops said they'd make the arrested listen to a copy of Nickelback's Silver Side Up album on the way to jail. Y'know, really rubbing salt in the wound, but in a humorous way that still actively discouraged drunk driving.

Everyone thought it was pretty funny, as far as we saw on Internet, but Nickelback wasn't amused. According to TMZ, the band contacted the police department and made them take it down. Blabbermouth adds that Constable Robb Hartlen, who wrote the post for the police department, had this to say about the band being pissed.

"What we were trying to do is put a little humor into a very serious matter of drinking and driving. What it does is it sparks that conversation, it pushes that idea that everybody knows with a little bit of humor … Poor Nickelback. They take the brunt of a nation's joke, and I'm sure they're crying all the way to the bank."

I guess Nickelback could take the joke when it made fun of Ted Cruz, but not when it was for a fun bit of awareness from a local police department? Oh well. I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll write about Nickelback jokes.
