On the heels of AC/DC announcing their new album, Rock or Bust, and offering their first snippet of a new track, titled "Play Ball," we have some shitty news to report.
Earlier this year, primary songwriter and founding member Malcolm Young had to leave the band due to suffering a reported stroke. Now, The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting the Young is suffering from dementia.
As a result, Young's wife has checked him into a nursing home that specializes in dealing with the disease. A source told the paper that if you were in a room with Young and then walked out, and returned a minute later he would have no recollection of who you are. His short-term memory is completely shot.
This is truly heartbreaking news. As MetalSucks points out, the dementia has been known to occur in stroke victims, but also can be a result of bad genetics, and life expectancy is bleak.
Our thoughts are with Malcolm Young, his family and all AC/DC fans.
