The music video for Hoobastank's 2003 hit "The Reason" has finally achieved one billion views on YouTube. The song has also probably achieved close to one trillion references over the years of people mockingly saying "and the reason is you" in a super whiney voice, but nobody is tracking that statistic.
The PRP points out that part of why the music video for "The Reason" has taken off is thanks to a #NotAPerfectPerson hashtag on TikTok, which has close to 950 million views.
All jokes aside, "The Reason" and its namesake album were a pretty big deal back in the day. "The Reason" is certified 4x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with over 4 million sales, while the album itself has clocked in with 2.3 million sales.
Anyway, this is all a good reason to go remind yourself that Hoobastank was actually a nü-metal band and that you definitely know "Crawling In The Dark" and "Out Of Control" if you grew up in the 2000s.
