CARNIFEX Lost $250,000 On Canceled Headlining Tour

The band was set to play clubs all over the country.

With the ongoing COVID-19 resulting in a rolling cancelation of months and months worth of shows, we've seen the effect it's had on everybody from artists to people who work at the clubs, to promoters and club owners. But just how much are we talking here? One artist, Carnifex frontman Scott Lewis, revealed his band lost $250,000 on their delayed co-headlining tour with 3Teeth, which was also to feature The Browning and Skold.

Lewis offered the revelation while commenting on a video clip of U.S Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin's response to a reporter asking how long people who are out of work to live on the $1,200 stimulus check the government was offering. Mnuchin responded 10 weeks. That's an expectation of only needing $120 a week for the over 20 million folks who filed for unemployment (and even more that haven't been able to get through crashing unemployment systems.)

"Carnifex lost over $250,000 with our tour cancellation." Lewis wrote on Twitter. "I personally lost about 60K. I don’t get to tour for 6 more months. Burn these people alive."

Lewis remained positive in a follow-up, adding: "We’ll survive. Our fans and our label Nuclear Blast have our backs like no other. The whole thing is fucked though, so much great talent that needs a chance."

Their label, Nuclear Blast, launched a fundraiser where fans can donate directly to the band, if fans would like to help them out.

Health experts have warned that mass gatherings like concerts are likely not to return until fall 2021 the earliest. California's governor recently echoed those sentiments. While there is a chance that smaller club gigs may return sooner, it's likely to be a long time until we see a live gig again.
