The RIP a Livecast's Beyond The Band puts a spotlight on the people that work behind the scenes to bring you the music you love. From techs, to A&R, we hope to spotlight all the different vocations that support heavy metal.
On this past Sunday's edition of the RIP a Livecast, we spoke with legendary A&R rep Monte Conner of Nuclear Blast Entertainment and formerly of Roadrunner Records. Monte is responsible for signing a lot of the metal acts you grew up loving from Slipknot to Sepultura, Fear Factory and many more. Monte discusses how he broke into the business in the 80s, what the metal landscape looked like back then, how he got his first signings and shares some great Peter Steele stories.
Monte then talks A&R… what he looks for in a new band to sign, his process of going through demos and how fans can get involved in the business side of the music industry. This is an absolute must-listen for anybody looking to get into the heavy metal business…
