This past Sunday, Noa, Frank, Sean and I made our way to the Music Hall of Williamsburg to watch the Dillinger Escape Plan perform a headlining gig. I have probably seen this band close to 20 times, and everytime I think they won't be able to top the previous show, they just go ahead and completely blow my mind. This show was no different. The best thing about a Dillinger show in NY is the crowd goes nuts. And, when the crowd goes nuts, I feel as though the band feels like they are challenged to out-nuts the crowd. Towards the end of the show, there must have been a collision between guitarist Ben Weinman and vocalist Greg Puciato and both were bleeding. Did they stop the show? Oh, fuck no. They just got crazier.
Puciato invited fans to storm the stage and party with him for the band's last two songs, "Sunshine the Werewolf" and "43% Burnt." As the final track was reaching it's climactic end, Puciato instructed that when the big finale hits that everybody jump off the stage, leading to one of the craziest visuals I've ever seen.
Photographer Nathaniel Shannon was on the side of the stage for the performance and captured three excellent live bootlegs that he has made available exclusively to Metal Injection. They are: 43% Burnt / Sugar Coated Sour / Widower. Also, check out the photo gallery with some sweet shots from this momentous show.
I've said this before and I will say it once again. Dillinger Escape Plan are a band that are not to be missed live. Much like snowflakes, you will never see the same show twice. These guys love to keep things "dangerous" and I love watching them!
