November is here, which is great news for metal musicians: Gear Gods, MetalSucks and Metal Injection have teamed up with Toontrack for Metal Month for the fifth year in a row!
This year, the makers of industry-leading recording software such as Superior Drummer 2, EZdrummer 2 and EZmix 2 have a whole new slate of products they’ll be releasing just for metalheads to join their already-impressive, metal-centric line of packs including the Metal Guitar Gods EZmix Pack expansions for EZmix 2, the Progressive Foundry SDX expansion for Superior Drummer 2 and more. The new products will be revealed over the course of the coming weeks.
To start: Mario Duplantier of Gojira has teamed with Toontrack to release Rythme Sauvage, a collection of MIDI drum grooves performed by Mario on an e-kit. The product also features original artwork by Mario himself and is available starting today, November 8th!

We have a very special contest for all of you guitar players out there: Mario has written an entire song, consisting of only drums, using his Rhythme Sauvage collection. Download that song RIGHT HERE, record your own guitar part over it, upload it for the world to hear, and then Mario himself will sort through the entries and choose his favorites! One winner will receive the full suite of Toontrack core products in the EZ Line — EZdrummer 2, EZmix 2, EZkeys— plus a slew of metal expansions for each. In addition, our friends at Alclair were kind enough to throw in a set of Tour Triple Driver in-ear monitors. Two runners up will receive EZdrummer 2 and EZmix 2 plus one expansion for each.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! To help fuel your inspiration, we’ve enlisted Jason Suecof(Capharnaum, Charred Walls of the Damned, producer for The Black Dahlia Murder, Born of Osiris, etc), Chris Broderick (Act of Defiance, ex-Megadeth, ex-Nevermore), Wes Hauch (Black Crown Initiate), Scott Carstairs (Fallujah), Brody Uttley (Rivers of Nihil) and Justin McKinney (The Faceless, The Zenith Passage) to write and record their own songs over Mario’s drums. We’ll be unveiling those tracks here in the coming weeks to help get your brain firing.
