In that same interview that Lars Ulrich revealed that Metallica are contemplating how they can work on new music while in quarantine, there was another special moment. Lars handed it off to his two sons, Myles (21), and Layne (19), who performed a pretty hard rendition of one of the Beatles' heavier songs, “Eleanor Rigby.”
Rolling Stone got a quote from papa Ulrich about his sons' performance, Ulrich said:
“It was like this insane, three-minute Blue Cheer, crazy, garage-rock version of ‘Eleanor Rigby.’ Obviously, there’s been some incredible versions of ‘Eleanor Rigby’ along the way, but I’m pretty sure there’s never been one that had this kind of sound, this kind of feel, this kind of energy and madness to it. I was like, ‘You know what, boys? You done me proud.’”
MetalSucks points out that longtime Metallica fans have seen Myles before, with his adorable cameo when he was a toddler in Some Kind of Monster:
