Everyone, including myself, seemed pretty excited about the upcoming Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth) instru-metal record Inferno out this spring via Prosthetic Records. The record is Friedman's first in four years and first record available worldwide in ten years, so it's a pretty big deal. Throw in the fact that Friedman pretty much invent the whole "shred" genre and you've got yourself a justifiable recipe for major hype.
"Steroidhead" is seriously awesome, no doubts about it. The song twists and turns through solos and riffs like it's nothing but keeps you completely and totally interested throughout. The song also features drummer Anup Sastry (Intervals) and guitarist Keshav Dhar (Skyharbor), which is extra awesome! Oh, and then there's the whole thing about Children of Bodom guitarist Alexi Laiho, Revocation guitarist Dave Davidson and acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela being on the record… so yeah, extra awesome supreme.
