THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's Ben Weinman Recalls His Struggle with Depression & How He Dealt With It

The You Rock Foundation has been actively growing and trying to raise awareness for depression in the music community. Previously, we published a video of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor discussing his trials and tribulations with depressions. The foundation recently published a video with Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan, who offers advice to any metalheads suffering from depression. Here's a choice excerpt where he discusses how he deals with his own struggles:

“Ironically depressing, aggressive, negative music has almost made me feel better. A lot of people wouldn’t want to believe that” says Weinman. “Throughout the years there’s been a lot of attention towards the negativity of heavy music as being a bad influence on people. For me, it’s been a good influence. It’s been a cathartic way for me to express myself.”
