Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

I’ve got another exclusive premiere for you all today and today from my good friends in France, SlaveOne. For those new to the group, yes that’s a Star Wars reference and it rules. If memory serves me right I first started covering this group in 2016 and have helped them with a few premieres like last year’s album stream of Omega Disciples.

Today we’re launching a new single from the band called “The stanzas of Dzyan”. Consider it an early peek at SlaveOne’s latest evolution and tweak, as this is by the far the group’s most dissonant and nasty-sounding material to date. Later in 2021, they’ll hit the studio to record a new album so now’s your chance to hear something from it early.

Given the occult, spiritual, and cryptic nature of the song and its accompanying music video, the statement I received from SlaveOne for today’s premiere falls right in line with that type of unearthly vibe. SlaveOne states that "“The stanzas of Dzyan” is “Based upon Helena Blavatsky’s work the stanzas of Dzyan, and also serves to introduce SlaveOne’s new line-up. It also embodies the band’s first steps into dissonance.

Sand pillars of knowledge dissolve under the weight of spiritual rebellion. Imagine a congregation of those spiritual architects shaping the minds of new disciples as Blavatsky was trying to. These themes came to life through the music video.”

To my ears, “The stanzas of Dzyan” reminds me more of Nightmarer and other such acts with a strong secondary focus on heaviness and brutality versus a more standard Gorguts type dissonant technical death metal sound. So be sure to check out the single below and keep an eye on the band since I’ve no doubt their upcoming album will be awesome. You can follow the group over on the SlaveOne Facebook page.
