Embrace The Outré Hell Lurking Within KLEXOS – “Obfuscāre Veritas”

Official Album Art

Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

As I mentioned last week, I've got a killer song premiere or album stream every week now all the way into the end of February. Today's premiere is an early single launch of Klexos – "Obfuscāre Veritas". The project's debut album, Apocryphal Parabolam, drops on February 26. As usual, you can read on to learn more about the group and the release, or you can scroll below and start jamming the release now. Today's premiere means a lot to me since I started covering Klexos in their demo days in 2017 over at No Clean Singing. It was clear back in 2017 that this project was on to something special and "Obfuscāre Veritas" will make that abundantly clear for anyone new to the duo.

On "Obfuscāre Veritas", Klexos meld dark as fuck dissonant death metal and dissonant black metal with progressive-minded tech-death in a surprisingly fresh way. Kicking off in bleak and crushing terrain, the song continually morphs, feeding you more new riffs and sickening vocals, all the way ramping up both the heaviness and quickening the tempo in alternating passages. Super heavy and groovy dissonant tech-death isn't new per se but it's still an outlier overall when it comes to dissonance-focused tech-death (outside of Ulcerate-inspired strains, which this isn't), and Klexos has an interesting take on this sub-style that fucking rules.

I asked the band if I could get some additional information about today's song premiere and they kindly shared with me that "Obfuscāre Veritas” was one of the last songs written for the album, but it sets the precedent for the more dissonant and riff-driven sections throughout the album. Conceptually, the song covers the predilection of humans to subscribe to dogmatic ideologies, which consequently promote biases that prevent people from entertaining objective truths and ideas that lie outside of the scope of their rigid belief systems. We are beyond excited to finally be able to share this with everyone."

Having heard the entirety of Apocryphal Parabolam numerous times by now, I can verify that this is an incredible album you'll want to pick up. So be sure to check out our premiere of Klexos – "Obfuscāre Veritas" below. Pre-orders can be placed through the Klexos Bandcamp Page and Bigcartel Page. You can follow the group over on the Klexos Facebook Page.
