It's time to return to Lordran and explore more of Dark Souls. Following their debut release that came out last year, Firelink return with even more black metal infused Dark Souls lore. Firelink are finally ready to present the lyric video for the lead single "Where Demons Bore". This is the lead single from the band's upcoming full length release, slated to be coming out later this year.
"Where Demons Bore" is an 8 minute epic, taking you through a section of the Dark Souls world not explored in their first release, The Inveterate Fire. Firelink delves deeper into the world, both figuratively and literally, focusing the lyrics of the new single on the Lost Izalith and the Bed of Chaos. "But Aaron", I hear you saying, "I don't know anything about Dark Souls, tell me about the music." Believe me, I hear you.
As mentioned above, "Where Demons Bore" is an 8 minute epic. Firelink take everything they learnt in their debut release and infuse it into this song. The song has slower, melodic focused sections, primarily around the beginning of the track. Around the halfway mark though, the song burst in a higher gear. The musicianship ups its game starting here and leading into the guitar solo. Following the solo is probably my favourite vocal section that these guys do, the melodic, black metal style of the vocals topped with the instrumentals sounds monsteros.
First off if you need new black metal, here you go. If you like Dark Souls and metal, and you haven't heard of these guys, well you're in for a right treat. Firelink dive deep into what Dark Souls is all about, and has music that matches the world masterfully. Not only does this band pay its dues to the series, but write some great music to boot. The new single can be purchased on Bandcamp or found on streaming services, but the guys in the band were kind enough to let us premiere the lyric video which can be found below. Right now the tentative release date for the album is June 12th, but keep an eye on their Facebook page for any updates on that. Firelink will also be playing their debut release in full tomorrow (Saturday, April 25th) on Facebook, so if you like what you hear, check that out as well!
