The inclusion of noise and industrial sounds is often a finicky endeavor in metal. There are few that can thread these elements seamlessly into the fabric of one's music. Yet for American, this has proven to be somewhat of a rudimentary task. The tandem of Jimmy Gullickson and Mike Bamford combine the aural horror of the early works of The Body with the fury of modern Scandinavian black metal. Take "Visions of Great Faith" for example. The opening track to American's second, full-length album Violate & Control. It is a trenchant seven and a half minutes of music complete with harsh feedback loops and drum machines. Programmed beats occasionally crash into organic strings and blasts. Spitting vocals meanwhile bathe in a jarring buzz that permeates the track, resulting in a mangled chaos. A chaos only contained by the Virginian duo.
Sentient Ruin Laboratories and Fragile Branch are handling the physical release of American's Violate & Control in the United States. Meanwhile, Shove Records will work with supplying Europe with their physical copies. The album arrives on June 23. American is also on Facebook where you can keep up to date on their latest news.
