So Hideous' new record Laurestine is shaping up to be really solid. The band seems to be going in the direction of a shoegaze-driven heaviness, yet it doesn't feel tired or unoriginal. For example, the new song "Relinquish." It gets around to being heavy, but not in stark contrast to its lighter and airier bits. Instead, the band lets the whole song progress from being a soundtrack-esque soundscape into something genuinely heavy without chucking in a "shocking" heavy bit.
